Almost all the courses and products I recommend below (unless clearly stated otherwise) are ones I use now or have used in the past.
The exception is that I’ve only completed one of the four proofreading courses I recommend. I’m currently working through another one. The other two classes I like are offered by respected and well-established organizations. I’ve researched them thoroughly.
I’ve tried to create a comprehensive list of recommendations for everything you need as a proofreader.
You may notice that one essential product is missing from the list: a computer/laptop.
Unfortunately, my current laptop didn’t make the list of recommendations because I feel like throwing it out the window at least twice a month. My apartment is on the fourth floor. 😉
I use it, yes. But do I trust it? Not so much. If I buy a better laptop in the future, I’ll include it in my recommendations.
In the meantime, I’ll try to keep this one intact. I can’t make any promises, though.
