Proofreading for Your Spiritual Content
How can I help you?
It’s the truth—even proofreaders hire proofreaders! Effectively proofreading one’s work is a tall order. Since our brain is so familiar with what we have written, our eyes tend to see what we think we wrote instead of what we actually wrote.
Proofreading is crucial since overlooked errors can muddle your message, make you look careless, and even call your credibility into question.
As a qualified proofreader, I can help you eliminate those errors so that the content you’ve worked so hard to create comes across as professional and refined.
I’ll proofread your writing with even more care and dedication than I put into revising my own work and return it to you within the time frame we’ve agreed upon.
What is my role as a proofreader?
I carefully review documents to find and correct errors that were missed or unintentionally introduced during previous editing stages.
I do not change the structure of paragraphs, improve the flow of writing, or alter the wording of sentences; that is the role of an editor. Proofreading is the final step in the editorial process.
When proofreading your prose, I keep an eye out for the following:
- grammar gaffes
- spelling slipups
- punctuation pitfalls
- formatting faux pas (incorrect font size or style, missing indentations, etc.)
- witless word choices (ensure vs. insure, precede vs. proceed)
- repeated or omitted words
- US vs. UK English
What kinds of documents have I worked on in the past?
I have experience proofreading the following:
- résumés
- newsletters
- nonfiction books
- children’s books
- blog posts
- emails
- product descriptions
- brochures
- essays
- magazine articles
- website copy
- business documents
How do I make changes?
I work with Track Changes in Microsoft Word.
This allows you to see my recommended changes and accept or reject them as you see fit.
What resources do I use?
I use the latest editions of The Chicago Manual of Style and Merriam-Webster’s Collegiate Dictionary.
I also refer to The Blue Book of Grammar and Punctuation and The Best Punctuation Book, Period. If you have your own style guide, I’m happy to use it.
What type of documents do I proofread?
I proofread documents containing spiritual content.
I specialize in e-books, magazine articles, newsletters, and website content. However, if there’s something else within the spiritual genre you’d like me to proofread, just let me know.
